She Said “YES”! …. Now What?

 

The hardest part is over, you popped the question and she said yes. Now it’s time to get you a tux, but where do you even start? 

 

Ideal Timeline for Securing your Tux or Suit:

You DECIDE when!!  

6-18 months before the wedding (great, you want to get it done and check it off the list!)

3-6 months before the wedding (most common, you get to see the latest styles and do your research!)

1-3 months before the wedding (yes, we still can!).

Week of (yes, we get it you decided you wanted to go nicer than what you have!)

 

Have an idea of what you want…black, gray, navy, white, tan, green….  give Instagram or Pinterest a good look!  If you don’t see it on our website, don’t worry.  We don’t show everything and have access to different styles not on our website.    

 

Do you need an appointment?  Not necessarily, but it does help us to know when you will be coming in.  During prom we are busy, but that doesn’t mean we don’t want to see you.  An appointment in May is best for us all.  Allow 20-30 minutes minimum up to an hour.  Note that there are some great restaurants once you park your car so you can make it a special outing in Dubuque.  

 

Who do we bring?  We prefer that only the “decision makers” come for this meeting.  Less is more!  However, if one of your people is in town and this is the only time to get measured, bring them!

 

What do we bring to the appointment?

• Swatches of dress colors we are going to need to match. This may include (but is not limited to) Bridesmaid Dresses, Maid-of-Honor Dresses, The Bride’s gown, and any other color you may want to match.

• A list of your groomsman, ushers, fathers, attendants, jr groomsmen, ring bearers, mini-grooms and anyone else you want to dress a special way for your big day

• Bring your ideas. We love seeing pictures and pinterest boards of ideas of what y ou would like the big day to look like. 

• Again, your fiance or other decision makers. 

 

What if you are planning a wedding in the Dubuque area but do not live here?  Schedule and appointment or stop in when you are here to pick out what you want.  If you can’t make it in, call us and we will walk you through it.   The plus is that we own most of the basic lines and have them in Dubuque so it’s easy for us to get the perfect fit and accommodate your wedding party.  In addition, you don’t have to travel back home with your tuxedo.  You can pick it up as soon as you arrive in town and drop it off the next day.  Who has room in their small carry on to bring a tux?

 

What if you are planning a destination wedding?  We will do everything we can to accommodate your dates and situation.  It’s super easy if you go with something we have in stock and especially in the winter months.  But know your schedule and dates before you call or come in.  No problem!   

 

What if members of our wedding party do not live in the area?  It’s super easy if you go with one of our In-Stock lines.  We can usually fix or exchange any bad measurements so this is the best and easiest route.   You will have a very easy experience going with Gordon's, trust us! 

 

The challenge with an Out of Stock rental is the measurements and we can explain that at the appointment.
